Our Little Family's First Christmas

The past few years Phil and I have started a tradition of having our own little Christmas celebration by exchanging presents on Christmas Eve since we always spend Christmas Day at my parents house. Today marked our first celebration with Audrey and I was so excited for it. I planned out the whole day and gave myself a tough task of baking pretzel bites for lunch, then pot roast with rosemary foccaccia bread for dinner and also get dessert for tomorrow night's Christmas dinner done. It was a big task but it was so important to me to make today special since it will only get more fun as Audrey gets bigger.

We started off the morning opening presents with each other. Everyone including Toby and Carson got in on the action and we had a great time. I think it was a bit overwhelming for Audrey at this point and she was most interested in the toys we got the dogs but that's alright because Phil and I enjoyed opening presents with her.

I think the best part of the morning for me was giving Phil his gifts. I got him some clothes and a brand new DeWalt Drill and Driver Set. He's never had a good one and is loving doing all kinds of projects around the house so he definitely needed something with some horsepower that would last him a good long time. He was so excited about it! The best quote from him was "Wow I'm really a Dad now I got a flannel shirt and a new drill!!" He was extremely excited when he said it.

Audrey seems to really like her brand new Fisher Price Baby Grand Piano. It's has lots of fun songs on it and she loves standing up and jamming at it. We also got her some new board books that are better for going in her mouth and don't run the risk of getting the pages pulled out and a few new other fun toys for her to play with.

Now there is no better way to end the day on Christmas Eve then by watching the first showing of the A Christmas Story marathon on TBS. Here is a little clip from my favorite scene. We can't wait to celebrate Christmas with our family tomorrow and then it's off to Pinconning on Saturday to celebrate some more.
